My active has started to sag/bounce at the right rear strut. I suspect the other side isn't far behind.

I'm UK based, so contacted JEM but unfortunately they no longer have the rig to regas the struts. I'm fully aware that a regas is probably only going to be a temporary fix anyway.

Does anyone know anywhere that will regas or service/rebuild the struts any more? The rest of the car works fine, so it seems a great shame to bin it!

Cheers Roland, the car actually came from Smithy originally, but unfortunately he's retired, much to the detriment of the Soarer scene!

I'm going to try reaching out to any suspension companies I can find, but if anyone's got any other ideas, please shout!

Cheers,
Corin.

Hi mate, locally over here peter taplin should be able to sort rebuild or supply seals etc.
Just the wait of sending bits to aus and return to uk.

What number 32 is yours? :-)

Ah, is Mr taplin still around/contactable? I'll ship to Oz if it's the only option!

As for number- I've never worked it out. Frame number is UZZ32-0001073, the Plant/Built number is A22. So it's either a very early or a very late one....

I'd try some local hydraulic shops.

Honestly the systems in these are a lot like what you'd find in hydraulic diggers and other industrial equipment.

Mike does make a good point. Anyone with good machining skills who does work in similar industrial hydrulic things should be able to sort you out in thoery.

I think many wouldn't care to help though, preferring easier work.

You mean it's not for a digger?? A car?! wow we suddenly have zero brain power for this... Take it to your mechanic!

You'd need to find someone in that field with an open mind.

Thanks guys, I've been reading up on everything I can find, and maybe I'm overcomplicating this by jumping straight to a strut rebuild? It's conceivable the accumulators are still OK, and it just needs a regas. I'll see if I can find anywhere that can fit the valves and do that, and go from there. Even as a temporary fix, it'd give me time to source some replacement accumulators.

Potentially.
You could probably get away with having a machine shop fit valves to the units, and regass them.
Though depending on the seal condition you may find you need to top up the nitrogen every now and then.

Take it to the people who service the hydraulics for defence gear or the oil and gas industry. They will be well versed in keeping ancient mechanical systems in tip top condition and able to think outside the box.

Howdy fellas. I couldn't work out how to begin a new post so this seemed the best place to put my post. Owner of UZZ31 for 17 years. Used for the first 12 last 5 on blocks for a suspension rebuild that kept getting pushed back. You know how it goes. Anyway finally really back into it. What i'm really here for is one of you Soarer geniuses to contact me so i can pick your brain a little. I'm way out of touch as to the latest best bits for Soarers. I want to go from the airbags to after market coil overs. The car is being set up for track racing mainly. I was going to go second from the top Tein's but id love a chat from someone that knows more before i waste my money.
