Hey Guys, my bog standard coil sprung UZZ30 has travelled 40,000km since front upper and lower bush replacement and 5,000km since konis were fitted. 1.It continues to drive like a jelly at speeds above 60km and only after a few wines pluck up courage to keep up with traffic, but if struck with sudden head wind, I need notify air traffic control. 2. I need see a chiropractor if accidentally hit a cats eye lane marker. 3. On full lock entering a drive splay or reversing over a twig, the front end goes sideways and falls over respectively. Would appreciate some input. Neil Austin}}

Check the steering rack bushes. Check the wheel alignment and check that all the suspension bolts are tight.

Check the rear upper bushes too.

Your description is a bit vague and difficult to understand, but give the above a try.

Have fun.

Check the damper setting on the shockers they may be set for soft ride.
They have three setting Soft/firm/Hard.
I have mine set at firm you may need to set it to hard.
I would look at setting it at firm and maybe some new spring.

Thanks Dan, I'm as vague as the car. It has been checked on 3 separate occasions by 'specialists' using a crow bar to determine play.

Will check the shocks Craig, apparently mine sits on shortened springs; would this justify a firm setting?

Urethane or rubber bush?

Yeah definitely do rack bushes if not already done, makes a huge difference.

Tyres wear? pressure?

When you say "shortened", do you mean they have been cut? Cause that's a big no-no.

If they are just replacement lowered springs, that's OK then.

Dan, the best I can explain this 3 fold problem is 1. the front end tends to float at speed. 2. The smallest road irregularity jolts through the cabin. 3. Should I run over a small object when making a turn, the affected front wheel literally feels as if it rolls sideways, a similar feeling to being in an old holden with worn king pins.

At purchase told it had lowered replacement springs, but who knows? How do you tell without taking them out?

Possibly worn ball joints.

The jolting could be from very hard springs, or urethane type bushes.

Actually, so could the floating, if the spring rates are too hard it won't allow the tyre to stay in contact with the road.

They could also be related to urethane bushes.
VFT bushes go highly recommended, They're not cheap but work very well.

Good one Dan. Been to 2 lexus dealerships as well as a gaggle of soarer service gurus. None have mentioned ball joints.

I hope it's not, as it seems you are up for new control arms if it is. :-(

Hello all My UZZ32 active has lifted the right hand rear suspension to full height and will not settle back to normal unless I bleed off some suspension fluid (300ml) but immediately pumps back up to max as soon as I drive off. does anyone have any suggestions for a fix.
