I finally got rid of my big Celsior brakes. I picked up some stock UZZ31 brakes complete for $70 which is a bargain. Came with all the disks, calipers and pads and of course they bolted straight on no worries.
The UZZ31 calipers are better than the TT brakes in that they give more freedom for wheel choice.

So finally I can now give my Soarer the retro look and make it stand out from all the other ricepacks with those big bling wheels and low profile tyres.

15 inch rims - gives the car that drag look.

I had to adjust the rods to make the car higher at the back. It's only on big bumps that the wheel touches. I might have to massage the guards a bit. the tyres are 295/60/15

Juzza reckons than anything bigger than a 15 inch rim is just plain silly. He tells me that to fill out a guard you need big rubber. I reckon he's right too.
Next is a matt black paint job and some side pipes.

They actually look reasonably tidy on your soarer. Those extra wide rear tires sure make the car look like it means business!

Has traction improved much compared to those BBS 18"s you normally had in Pics on Planetsoarer.com?

Also Ive been meaning to ask how many kms has your uzz32 done now?

Rob I protest!
"sticks out of the guards enough to suck in small children on the fly? "

I can assure all that not one child was harmed. Scared perhaps, but not harmed.

And yes it was April 1 - BUT many of you know the truth of what looks better. These things are cyclic. Big rims will go the way of flares :-)
You should see a white Soarer with gold 15 inch Simmons - reminds me of that white A9X Torana on Street Machine - horn! :-)

It would probably look OK if the guards were flared out a bit, but the Soarer doesn't have any flaring, so it just looks wrong.

cant say I am a fan of the rear rubber protruding outside the rears and if you did put smaller brakes back on I hope you upgraded the calipers.

Your soarer looks a joke with those wheels. Anyone who who sees those wheels will laugh in your face. They belong on an old xy falcon ar hq kingsy not a luxury car. besides the ride of a soarer is harsh no matter what model or rim sizes or tyre profile, and a 19 inch rim with 35 of 40 profile will fill the guard fine without leaving your car looking like a try-hard attempt of a street machine. Good luck with that.

Just to clarify the wheels were off my XC 351 Ford Coupe. The brakes were removed for the photo and were hanging by a wire coat hanger. After the pic the big brakes went back on (the fronts were being changed at the time). The wheels are back safe and sound on the Ford. The offset is zero - no good for a Soarer - it makes the wheels stick out too much and I would never attempt driving the car with the rubber sticking out like that and no brakes. Now if you could get the right offset and already have small brakes the wheels would fit and away you go. :-)
Of course nothing beats a set of whopping big rims and low profile tyres on a Soarer. Check out the pic below and you all will agree I'm sure :-)

I totally agree Peter, on the right car at least.

I have 17"s on my soarer and are happy with them, wouldnt want any bigger. I cant stand chrome wheel, especially if they are like the above 19"

I think on modern cars large tyre profiles will probably never come back into fashion, although maybe the halfway point such at 16" stock wheels such as on the R32 GTR and older WRXs (which in my opinion look better then any after market wheels on those cars) will be popular in the future :-)

Hmm, that was a bit rambling, sorry! :-)

I was thinking.. why would you put on the standard UZZ31 calipers? The V8 brakes compared to my TT brakes are so noticeable, even my girlfriend can notice it. And she doesn't know anything about cars.
Either way, nice call Peter :-)
