Hi Guys
I lowered my car on the weekend and it went down about 6cm on the front (looks MAD) but on the back it went down about 2cm and it looks silly. The little rods that i was adjusting on the back didn't wanna move too much. Does anyone know why is this happening and how to get around it? I'll post some pics later on today

How many turns did you rotate the rear ones? Did they turn as much as the front ones?

If you loosened the top & bottom lock nuts they may just need some WD40.

They didn't turn as much as the front ones. they turned about 1/4 of how much the front ones turned. I'll try with WD40.
Thanks

The back won't go a huge amount lower, as the rods hit the ball joint on the bottom when lowered too far.

The only way to get lower, is to cut a bit of the rod from the end....OR
buy a height controller.

If you cut the rods or wind them too short you will either damage the sensor or snap the rods if you jack the car up!

Reason being when the suspension is fully down the sensor will get to the end of it's travel and the full weight of the wheel, brakes and suspension will be on the rod and sensor....

Do it properly - leave the rods alone and get a height controller

Much better idea. You can get a basic one from Neil for about $150 from memory.

Does adjusting the Rods for the suspension height effect reliability of the air struts?

Here you go:
http://rushimports.com.au/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=10&products_id=18

This controls all 4 wheels together and gives you a 3rd height for Sports mode. You'd have to raise your fronts back to the same level as the rears then use this to change your height.

There are more expensive ones with more features like speed sensitive height and controlling the front/rear separately.

Are there any instructions on how to install this? Or should i take my car to someone who knows how to do this?

Yep it comes with clear instructions. Still if you don't like doing it yourself, you can have a look at mine or even see if Shaun.K at D.C's is willing to do it, he has done a few before.

When the Height Controller is at its lowest dosn't it affect the wheel alignment ?

Yep.
You'll end up with a fair amount of negative camber.
Though not as bad as some daft looking lowered BMW's I see driving around.

Would wheel alignment sort this out?

If you don't go ridiculously low the camber is OK.

Yes I thought so . Wheel alignment would sort it out but dosn't that mean that you would have to align it either up or down & then you cannot move it without another alignment ?

Do your alignment on your most common driving setting and the rest should be OK.
