Hey guys.
I got a suspension place to confirm that my wheel bearing is rooted.
I picked up a wheel bearing for $61 which i was rapt about from a friend who works at Repco.
The same place who confirmed the wheel bearing, said its going to cost between $300-$550 to swap it over. And my heart stopped beating for a second. He said that he needs to remove a whole lot of to get to the bearing and doesn't know how long it will take.
Now, searching through the ALSC archives I came across this post from Jeff Harper:
Rear disks rotors are removed by CHOCKING THE WHEELS!!!, removing the caliper, letting off the hand brake and winding in 2 x 12mm (I think) bolts into the 2 threaded holes in the casting of the hub of the rotor, between some of the studs I think.
Wind them in slowly and when they touch the axle, wind in 1/2 turn.
Tap the rotor with a block of hardwood or rubber mallett.
Wind each bolt another 1/2 turn, tap again.
This slowly draws the rotor off the axle with a minimum of damage to you and the rotor.
Etc Etc Etc.
They come off quite easily.
Or, don't do that and belt the bejesus out of them for hours and hours.
I showed this to someone else, and he understands it, but I don't.
Would someone be able to explain to me in a bit more detail of how to get to and remove the rear wheel bearing?
IS it a relatively easy job? is the quote i received too much?

just got a call from them saying the seal for the wheel bearing was rooted, and that let water into the bearing which stuffed it. i need to wait for them to source the seals now.
