ok heres the deal, I got a new set of tyres at the end of last year and a wheel alinment and they wore out just before easter not on the inside or out side every wear. the things looked like slicks. i got a new set on just before coming down to neils at easter and there almost at the tread wear indicators already. I have tein coil overs that were set as hard as they could be, I softened them up yesterday. could that have been the problem?

the way they are wearing is wierd aswell its like it "feathering" the front edge of the tread. (leaves like a little lip on the front side of the tread) I thought this was strange.

"Feathering" is normally a sign of incorrect toe in/out adjustment.

Josh, are you talking about the fronts, rears or both? Did you get an alignment done when the new tyres were fitted?

Would it be a relevant question to ask about how you drive it?

hahah well that could have something to do with it but this new set I havent done anything major eg chirped the wheels once or twice but nothing that should cause brand new to almost stuffed in a month.

90% of my driving is to and from work where is is mainly 80 and 100k zones so its not like I even really have to stop and start

I am no expert on suspension or alignment, but it's pretty hard for me to see how they could be responsible for your rears to wear out evenly in a month.

The feathering could be due to toe-in/out. My left rear feathered a bit and I could feel it pull sideways slightly over bumps, eg railway crossings etc. Turned out the toe-in bolt wasn't tight and there were little metal shavings around it due to the movement.

It was and re-aligned and tightened up, made a big difference, but felt like it had come loose again a month or so later, so I had it and the camber bolt replaced. Just checked, no feathering at all on my rears now.

Apart from fast take offs, do you do much drifting?

now that you mention it it does feel a bit uneasy over some of the dodgy bumpy roads around here. no i dont do much drifting in it,i do howeverdo the odd fast take off, but i do at least 450ks a week and there was the trip to neils and back so if the toe in/out was out it would explane the wearing. i think best bet will be book it in for an alignment.
