I have 18" 255/35 r18 on the rear of my 91 V8 Limited , are the factory wheel alignment settings suitable for this rim , i had new tyres fitted just over a year ago Along with a balance and wheel alignment after fitting all new airbag struts to the car) which have worn through to the canvas on the inside of the rear tyres . The car is only used on weekends and probably only put about 5000 kms on them .Would a bad alignment cause this much wear or should i be looking at something else
As pointed out by others above, the offset of the wheels is more important than the wheel size here. Ie you may have have (broadly) "stock size wheels", but if the offsets on those wheela are wrong, the result will be sub-optimal.
I would also check that the bushes are not overly worn
ps. I trust you trust the wheel alignment was done properly? I've had one "four wheel alignment" done where they "forgot" to do the rear wheels. And then they tried to argue it was not important...

They are a deep dish on the rear , how would i calculate the offset ? . I think the wheel alignment may not have been done properly as both tyres have the same wear in the same place

When you take the wheel off on the inside it will say something like 18x8 et +38. The offset being +38. The lower the offset the more the wheel will stick out towards the guards. I actually didn't know you had to take that into account. Wouldn't also rims width be important as well since in my case, my wheels sit probably an inch wider on both sides front and even more on the back.
