Hi there. My car was making a kind of a rubbing noise coming from the right rear end (kind of where the diff is). Only when driving forwards, with every turn of the wheel. Was getting worse over the last few weeks. First I thought I could be the brakes. The rear pads where quite worn, so I replaced them. Didn´t make any difference. So I thought it´s either the diff or the wheel bearing. I bought a new wheel bearing, but now the noise is suddenly gone??? Is that a good or a bad sign? The car drives like the usual, no problems at all...

Did you actually fit the new bearing or just threaten the old one?

Ben recently had a weird wheel noise that was tracked down to some tree part being down where it shouldn't be.

I didn´t do anything at all. The noise just disappeared by itself...

hey guys - noticing a wierd noise on my car as well, about 3 weeks ago, I had the tyres changed and wheels rotated - the rims from the rear placed on the front. Now i'm noticing a grinding noise.

At first, it was just from the front LHS tyre, now more prominent in the front rhs tyre.

I took the wheel off to have a look, rotated the tyre while the car was jacked up - still don't know where it's coming from as it didn't make any noise until I lowered he car again.

had a few people listen and couple of thoughts are it could be the bearings are shagged - my old man reckons the sound is coming from the Rims - which I think could be a possibility...

Any ideas from you guys? Pete (haha)?

nah, there's clearance - it's dumped, but there's clearance. the sound is coming more from the tyre itself... i dunno it's driving me nuts. put the car off road, it's been killin me not driving it, but better to be safe than sorry....

wish I could record the sound.

It might be the dust shield rubbing on the brake rotor. Just bend them back a little.

Checked that the wheel nuts are tight and that the wheels have the correct diameter hubs or spacer rings?
