Ok last night I ran into problems trying to stall on the converter when the power switch was on. Basically it would takes ages to stall up and wouldn't hold, and bog off the line. Found if I used economy mode it stalled as I would expect and quick off the line.
So other than the already known changing the suspension with tems fitted soarers, unlocking the converter on lite throttle, does it screw around with the engine timing? It seems like it pulled out a ton of timing when stalling or maybe it pulls up the line pressure in the box and completely screws up the converter.

Hmm, interesting question.
I thought that it enabled the auto to hold gears longer and most likely would have upped the line pressure for a harder shift.
You have got me thinking now. As I have the MV shift box I wonder if the auto thinks it is in power mode and that could be a factor with the low stall rpm.

Even on part throttle it struggled on the power switch. With economy I was stalling it up initially on close to full, then as it got close, would go back to like 1/2, 1/3 throttle. I stalled it up on economy back at the workshop, was hard on the brake and it got to 4000rpm and you could hear the turbo spooling, would have been like 12-15psi of boost. Would have loved to launch it on that if I had the grip.

Yeah mate. your 60 footers would drop into the 1.7's or even 1.6 with full traction and 15psi off the line. Definately into the 11's then. Although, if you wire up a switch for the lock up convertor, just in 3rd gear, you would gain 2-4mph and maybe 0.1-0.2 of a second also.
Im pretty sure Chris has his lockup switch activated?

Yep I got a few things on the todo list for next time. Was good experience on wednesday. Last time I went to wsid with the standard stall converter I always used the power switch and its probably why I struggled that time. My best 60' that night was 2.4 and my trap was 113mph, so thats why I'm thinking I could do a higher trap. Maybe if I switch to power mode after getting thru first gear it might improve the trap speed?

I would give that a go.
Yes, I have a switch to control lockup. I haven't been game to use it at WOT though. Shane said that he had to get oversized clutches for lockup as when he pulled the box it showed signs of excessive heat. I know he is making a heap more power than me but I don't really want to risk it. When I get some money and get the box built properly, I will get the lockup clutch upsized at the same time and then use it.
