Hey guys,

I've had my 91 TT Soarer since Feb and have noticed a slow degredation of my gearbox (auto ofcourse).

For a start it was just blipping under full accell but now it seems to do much smaller (but still very annoying and power sapping) blips. Not only that but now under once again full accell when the box goes to change from 1st to 2nd it basicly "stutters" around for 2-3 seconds and then finally changes.

I'm told this has something to do with the clutch packs and tends to be an expensive job fixing it. Could a shift kit fix this or has the gearbox gone too far? (btw i just had the machanic do a flush with Type IV which didn't change anything)

Hope you guys can help!

Regards,
Drew

If you run Diagnostics on the Auto you find it will be stating problem with Shift Solenoids..

Easy to replace..Just drop the pan..and pop em in :-)

If this dont fix it..Replace the box.

Muzzy, i was confused about which fluid to use also. I thought it was general knowledge that type IV was best.... Seems all the v8 boys talk to generally :-)

God Neil, why didn't I think of doing a diag :-O

Just a question though, if the diag does come back to me saying it the shift solenoid, where exactly do i go about getting a replacement?

Yes, why don't you drive 1300km with a dodgy gearbox? It will be fine for the 1300Km home again
