Ive looked all around but cant seem to find what the exact fluid capacity of the auto trans is... The only place that gave me some indication is Shell and it said 2 liters... (and no - I'm using Toyota T-IV not shell stuff :-))

So my question is whats the maximum trans fluid capacity?

According to the US manual (SC-400):
Dry Fill - 8.2 Litres
Drain and Fill - 1.9 Litres

Hmmm I must buy some more trans fluid to complete my flush if the total capacity is 8.2L! :-)

So far Ive flushed it with 6L and have 2L new stuff in there in there now... So basically there would still be 2 litres of bad fluid in there!

Ill get a new 4l tin next week, drain the 2 litres out. Top it back up with fresh fluid, Drive it around for a wee while... Then use the remaining 2 litres in the tin to refill the trans and see how it goes from there!

Mike, if you are doing the drain-a-bit fill-a-bit method, then you will never get all the old fluid out, just diluting it.

Last time I flushed her through, I used 12 litres and wished I had used 16.

$65?!? Try another dealership mate, that is WAY more than what I was last quoted, I was told $48 was the trade price, just see if you can suck up some more :-)

Cheaper for me as I only use Dex111. They don't miss you V8 guys in NZ for T-IV.

I generally find its cheaper and less stress to get a transmission specialist to do it. It was only $220ish for my last transmission service - when I did it myself it only cost me about $40 less than that, it was a horrible job, and I wasn't happy with the results.
