hey everyone. i have a 1jz in my SC300 and i'm trying to use my stock A340 transmission from my SC on the 1jz motor, but there is an extra sensor on the 1jz trans that the 2jz trans doesn't have a spot for. any idea what this sensor is? the transmissions are both A340's, and i was informed they were both the same, but i'm at kind of a loss for what to do with this extra sensor. thanks in advance.

Maybe the same as mine? I have the gearbox from a ma70 supra, and apparently they don't have the provision for the O/D clutch speed sensor on the box. That's why I have a little wire just dangling next to the box :-(

hmm, well, OD worked on my stock motor, and it works on my 1jz with the 1jz trans. unless the OD is read differently on the transmissions. if thats the case, i'll try it, but, i don't want to pay to have the transmissions swapped if its not going to work. i wonder if thats what it is. cuz, i found a diagram from an MKIII supra and i believe that sensor is labeled a speed sensor but i wasn't sure.

the thing thats hanging next to your gear box, is it a wire, like the sensor was cut off, or is it the actual sensor also?

i don't know how easily you can get under your car, but, if you could see a part number on the sensor, that would be such a huge help. this is the deciding factor on wether i sell my car running or not, so, 5000 bucks more if it works, lol. thanks for the reply :-)

if your looking at the engine bay from the front of the car, it is on the bottom/side of the right side of the transmission. here is the pic of it.

That'd be the O/D Direct Clutch Speed Sensor as Ben was talking about

awesome, thank you so much guys. so, hearing that your is just hanging there, i'm guessing the transmission can still be used minus the OD feature, right? it'll still shift normal and everything, just not have OD?
