I have had a bit of a look around the forums and couldn't find any definitive information about it. basically I'm wanting to change my automatic to a manual (obviously), and I'm wondering about the best way to go about it. Who do I speak to (I believe Neil is the person to speak to), how hard is it to do myself (I have done a manual conversion in a Ford Meteor before, bit different but yeah), can it even be done in my car (1994 N/A 2JZ-GE) and most of all how much would I be up for?

I like the auto for its smoothness but I love manuals more

Thanks in advance,
Bradley

The SC300 in the US was available as a manual, so it must be doable. Question is, how much, and is it worth it?

Peice of pisss mate.

Use a W58 from a JZA80 Supra 93 on.

Go through the same process as if it was a TT.

Is it a fairly straight forward procedure? Are you the one to get it from?

I've heard that that gearbox isn't as strong as the TT manual..

And any idea on the pricing?

cheers,
Brad

Why you want an R154 ? You going to Supercharge the JZZ31 ?
Same engine as in a Supra, so use the same box :-)

Yeah, the 2JZ-GE isn't exactly a torque monster

I was actually thinking about supercharging it (way down the track). Will the R154 bolt on or am I better off just being careful with W58? If i can get one..

Hah, you have the same dream as me Bradley! Unfortunately it seems to be prohibitively expensive to supercharge a 2JZ-GE, well at least it doesn't make a lot of sense from a economic point of view... but I still think it would be a fantastic engine to supercharge.

Unless you go really far down the charging track, I can't see you developing enough extra power to be too concerned with breaking the W58.

Damo's got near enough to 200 RWKW in his V8, and hasn't broken his W58, and that includes a fair bit of track time.

It's like anything, if you abuse it, you'll break it.

I actually though about getting a JZZ31 before I got my 4.0GT and putting a W58 manual into it, then doing a bit of weight reduction.

I think it would be quite fun car, not to fast and not too slow. Something different too! Could be made into a nice nippy naturally aspirated 2JZ track soarer even! Something about the sound of those just appeals to me alot - If I ever had the money Id love to get a late 90s Luxo-pack 3.0GT, and swap the motor/ecu for a 2JZ-GTE and go from there... Certainly be a monster - Even stock with one of those!

OK so its doable and apparently a straight swap.. How much would i be looking at for all the bits to do it (trims preferably as well...) and how available are they?

cheers,
Brad.
