Got my car booked in for a gearbox rebuild with a mob in brookvale, sydney called col voss. They have done a few a340e's in their time including one for southo on performance forums which was behind a 2JZ-GTE cressida.
$2400 bucks including doing a new shift kit drive in drive out. I would have used MV autos but the cost of shipping to and from adelaide would be a killer.
Hopefully they can build it to last. I'll post up details of what it's like after the build.

Col from cvat did express that mv autos knows their stuff. I was adelaide again this week, should have popped in as well, would have been better than visiting churches...

I logged this on fc datalogit thru my power fc,
Can see it start to slip after 4000rpm when big boost hits. Shes gone!!!
Oh and also I found that the standard map sensor on a 1jz reads up to 16.5psi. That's the yellow line you see top out. The tune is so rich from danny's single turbo setup that even with the incorrect boost reading, it only hits a max of 6 knock which is stuff all. I wonder how much more power danny's single turbo setup could have actually made.

Hey Ben, out of curiosity mate, what's being done to your gearbox for this rebuild? Upgraded clutch packs, Stage 2 Shift Kit, etc?
Just wanna know what's included, as MV's has quoted me $2,600 for a full rebuild that will be able to handle 300rwkw+ day in, day out.. Freight to his shop would've cost about $160 return, but then you'd have to factor in the cost of removing and then re-fitting the gearbox.
Tell me how it goes though mate, as I'd love to see how this rebuilt gearbox would handle with some more boost running through it.

Col has told me he uses a supplier in melbourne who brings the gear in direct from the USA. Kevler clutches, new bearings.. etc.. He was talking about some new upgraded piston out he was going to try as well, not sure exactly what he was referring to. I've seen this joint advertise in the states for a340e performance upgrades (they had parts for just about every auto ever made), can't recall the web site off hand, but i'd say its the same place, however the art of it is putting all the parts in and getting it to work over a warranty period of time.
As for the term shift kit, it's technically not really a shift kit, its just a different valve body that makes it shift different. A shift kit is what you do to a C4/powerglide. Old school mechanical autos. He is redoing my valve body to his own spec.
Got car back today, went for a fang tonight and all is good. Unfortunately haven't really been able to give it all as its not actually tuned yet, so I've been monitoring the knock sensor. It holds power, shifts harder now, but col is blaming that on the way the suprastick changes gears.
Col also redid the valve body and told me it was exactly the same mods that mv autos do to their valve bodies.
I'll know more tomorrow after its tuned how well it goes, but col was happy with it under power, just didn't like the way the suprastick changed when putting around.
