Hi!

Ok I have a manual conversion with the auto ECU. I am getting the ECT error, and the blicking OD light. Is there anyway to stop this?

I am guessing its because either the solenoids aren't there, or the speed sensor aint' there.

Does anybody know? Can I make up some wizz bang electronic stuff to fool it?

I did search too!

Get a manual ecu?

Take the dash out and remove the O/D lamp? Not as if you need it anymore!

If you find one, let me know please. The OD light does not blink but ECT shows unless I press Scroll or Fuel when it disappears for a while. It makes adjusting the clock a pain, too.

Not a bad idea, but the O/D lamp is the diagnostics lamp.

I have just read that if you short out the O/D the ECT error doesn't come up. So that is at least half the problem solved. Guess I could wire in a switch for the O/D lamp.

The O/D light is the diagnostics light for the auto tranny.

Yup but it doesn't flash in diagnostics mode, only the O/D does. But I might have no problems...

It should give a constant flash if there are no issues.

Does it come on with the key ON and motor not running?

Make it so the OD off, so you'll need to bypass that switch. With OD switch on, the auto ecu checks the status of the solenoids. With it off it doesn't. I had the same problem with a suprastick and auto ecu, no longer exists when using a power fc and the suprastick.

With OD off, it still checks the status, but the switch overrides the diagnostics flash.

Are you sure about that? I would have thought it would only check then (when OD is off) when you asked it to, ie short TE1 and E1.

My one only checked the status when it wanted to change, not at any other time.

Hi All

This is now my problem (Thanks Justin!), and it's more an annoyance than anything.

Will replacing ECU with a manual one also give me back cruise control? (not working due to manual conversion).

Also, is it preferable to get a manual ECU or an aftermarket ECU? What are they worth and how easy to change?

Cheers for any help!

Its a much much cheaper and much much easier option.

Whether its a better option or not is purely your call.

No idea sorry, you may have to install a clutch switch from the manual model.

Gary, the PM probably went through to my Outlook which I leave open at home. I'm currently at work at the moment, and will check it once I get home :-)
