Hi all

Im having a problem with the auto. It's very slow to change from 1st to 2nd gear. The change takes about 3 seconds and when it does engage it throws you back. Now in the space of a week it's gone from only doing it at full throttle to now doing it at light throttle as well. I've ran diagnostics and it says ECT OK.

Thoughts?

first check the fluid level.
if fluid level is ok then you either need to rebuild or get a good secondhand unit mate.

same happened to mine ended up replacing the gearbox.

btw does it do it from second to third? It could also be the solenoid.

Fluid Level is good.
It changes fine through other gears.
If it was a solenoid problem would'nt diagnostics pick it up?

Not if the solenoid is sticky.

I got a 2nd hand box for $400 for mine at the wreckers. Mine too was slipping from 1st to 2nd, startted of slightly then after a good thrashing the change from 1st to 2nd took like about 7-8 seconds to change and thats with playing with the throddle to help it change.
But yeah just ring up a few wreckers and hagal between them all.. good luck

Try changing the solenoids first.

Yep, change the 2nd gear solenoid before it eats the friction area and stops gripping all together.
