I'm experiencing a harsh jolt when I select Drive from Neutral in my V8. It has occurred since my mechanic changed some welsh plugs and had to drop out the transmission.

I have reviewed previous posts on this topic.

I have slackened off the LPS cable and reset the gearbox computer and EFI by removing the fuses. This improved the Park to Revers jolt.

My gear down-change has also become harsh especially if my foot is off the accelerator when I change down. The gear up-change is hesitating and then dropping in hard so you feel a real mismatch in acceleration.

I am not getting any error messages on my dash display so I assume all electrical connections to the transmission are working OK

All these symptoms occurred after the transmission was removed and then replaced so it has been a sudden change in performance.

I hope someone can help.

I'm sorry Nick, but I don't have an answer for you..........BUT, I'm sure one of the Transmission Guru's should be along shortly to assist.

Mine started to jolt, cost me $3k to fix. Maybe you should get it looked at by your local specialist ASAP.

Thanks for the tips.

I'm not sure what the TVS cable is and where to find it. Is it the same as the LPS cable or is it to do with throttle volume ?

Do you think the accumulator spring could have been damaged when my mechanic dropped out the transmission or would it just be a coincidence ?

If your transmission was taken out all of the wiring would have been removed from the transmission . Make sure that everything has been plugged in securely again. The mechanic could not break the spring.

OK, Good idea I will check the connections as you suggest. There are no error reports so I assumed that all wires must have been plugged in.... but let's see.

Do you have a shift kit installed?
My last soarer had one and it jolted into every gear, losing traction between first and second under heavy throttle.

Adam, Thanks for the suggestion. My transmission expert found that a small valve which houses two plastic "balls" had worn out. This valve softens the gear change. Sorry for the no technical description.

Problem is now fixed and the gear shifting is smooth again.

Thanks again.

Nick i recently had a gearbox change and i still have some niggling problems like harsh gear change under heavy throttle and a slight hesitation between 2 and 3. Unfortunately the guys that did it for me have a total IQ of 10 (and there are three of them). Who is your 'transmission expert'? id like to have mine reassesed by someone sensible. Prob is i cant remember what a good soarer feels like(?)
