Would anyone know if there would be any differences in the a340e transmission that someone who has been using it in a Supra MKIII with the 7MGTE (Turbo) engine. Did that transmission come as standard on the MKIII ?

I ask because someone has one for sale that has been upgraded, here is the description that he gives:
Tranny was rebuilt 600 miles ago. It received a full rebuild kit, not just a banner set. In addition, clutch count on the first brake was raised from 5 to 7, the second brake was raised from 5 to 7 & the O/D was raised from 5 to 6. Raybestos "blue plate" clutches & all new steel disk were used. The valve body received stiffer springs for tighter shifts. It has also received a new pump ($460) & a new downshift cable ($110).
Would I be able to run this on my Soarer or are there significant differences between one a340e and the next. (JZA70 version and JZZ30)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Joe, try mkiiisupra.net . I seem to remember a post from Adi saying that the JZA70 box was different from (and stronger than) the box used with the 7M.

I also remember a seeing a note which (IIRC) said that it was possible to swap valve bodies on A340s in order to use the SupraStick (for 2-solenoid boxes) on a box with a 3-solenoid valve body, so maybe there's some interchangeability. Can't remember where though.

EDIT:
Found it...

No, the Suprastick will not control the electronic line pressure.
However, the older valve body should bolt into the newer tranny - if you are upgrading based on the speculation it will hold more power throw in a valve body from one of your older trannys you have sitting around. The SupraStick would be able to control that...
