Hi everyone,

I know this has been done by a few people. From what I understand, the only differences between doing this same conversion on a Supra and a Soarer is:

Different interior panels (duh!)
Lengthen propshaft
Pedal box from manual Soarer (?? This one I am not sure about)

Anything else I need to know?

Thanks

The diff pattern is different you need the supra propshaft one to cut and combine to the soarer one...
Pedal box from the supra will work fine (supra MKIV)...

some minor things to do ...

And the fact that the 6sp box doesn't fit in the tranny tunnel. The top of the tunnel has to be cut off and either a supra one installed or some custom metal work done.

Buy a Supra if you want a Getrag 6spd. The conversion must be a whole swap to get it to work well due to the diff and gearbox gearing.

Soarer + Billet Thrust Upgrade parts + Billet selector forks = 600HP+ BOX with a Jim Berry Race Clutch.

I would think with the later model V161 having more suitable ratios you may be able to use it with a standard Soarer diff

The benefit of this also is you dont need to buy a turbo Supra halfcut to get one

Any thoughts?

There is only a small difference in the ratios between the 160 -> 161. Not enough to run the stock diff efficiently.
Jza80 clutch pedal fits, brake also if you swap the whole assembly. However its easier to just buy a jzz30 manual brake arm, and swap that in.
As you mentioned above you have to buy the transmission cover ( floor panel) to allow the getrag to fit.

I´ve done it right now, now the oem starter does not fit, a JZA 80 starter is needed.

The n/a JZA80s fitted with the V161 ran a 3.77 diff, the V8 Soarer is 3.92, and the TT Soarer is 4.08

Now im not sure if its as simple as this in practice, but the ratio difference between JZA80 and V8 Soarer is numerically the same (slightly less even) than the difference between V8 Soarer and TT Soarer, and as we know there are no issues with doing that swap

So what im saying is a stock V8 diff would be ok with the V161?

Even if its not, it wouldnt be too hard to get a 3.77 diff out of a JZA80 or JZS147 and bolt it straight in or just swap the CW&P
