"part throttle", and "slight throttle" sound like the same thing. what shift kit do you have? my stage 2 shifts hard all the time. my stage 1.5 is much softer at lower revs, and hard shifting at high revs. MV automatics designed it this way, to improve on the stage 2. Stage 2 is not good for diffs(Violent) and is no longer produced.

A little more care in writing your messages would be good Aslan. Capitals, correct spelling etc always goes a long way. :-)

Thats okay, Just here on Soarer Central you will find that you may get more of a response if your messages are more structured and easy to understand. :-)

I have the stage 1 shift kit and it will rip the rear tyres to shreds at half throttle on a short shift into 2nd. Its also firm on light throttle applications..

But i do have the line pressure wound up as much as i can. Which definately improved my 1/4 mile times. And i like it nice and firm on the street too :-)

Shift kit + fitting is around the $700 mark... I think a Stally is around the $1000 fitted. SO all up your looking at $1600-$1800 i guess.

How long are you going to keep the car? You may as well get the whole gearbox rebuilt which costs $2600 including a convertor. I know its more, but this will handle alot of rwhp!

Ive been quoted this for a full rebuild, any thoughts? Is the price about right? Can anything else be done?

Transmission

Replace all frictions with Alto Red Eagle performance plates and upgrade capacity

Fit Koleene steels

Replace all bushes

Mill case flat

Fit deep pan off Toyota truck for more oil capacity

New filter

Replace all gaskets and seals and overhaul kit

Modify valve body

Fit larger ratio boost valve

Flush and test solenoids

Answermatic pressure test trans

Fit custom sealing rings

Fit new sprags to low reverse clutch

Overhaul convertor

And stall to 2500 rpm

Removal and refit is extra

Dyno testing is extra charge

Recommend large oil cooler fitted between $180 to $220 fitted

NZ3260 inc GST

Convertor will be stalled to 1st stage , as much as we can go with the exsisting convertor body

Who's doing the labour in that quote? I went up and saw Mike the other day and fired off a few q's about what to do when the new motor and turbo are in. He quoted (for me dropping off just the gearbox) $810 for a 2800 stally, 1.5 shift kit and new seals/oil!

Fitting shouldn't cost that much. It's only a 1 hour job plus fluid.

Morgan was charged about 800 for just the convertor, i was going off that.

If i can get my stally upped to 2800 for under $600 fitted, i would jump straight at it in the new year!

I take it since there are no references to my quote, that is about all you can do to rebuild and strenghten the gearbox.

Shift kit is $385 from MV last time I checked.
Fit it yourself at home, all you need is a 10mm socket, (plus rubber mallet, and a piece of wood to prise the tubes off).

Can't remember how much the stallie was, my complete built auto was $2600, and paid a mate $200 to fit it.

I got my stallie done for 380 for the converter itself exchange and was about 80 bucks or so to fit it.
