Right, to add to my half dead motor, the auto is playing funny buggers too! Have a mate with a re-built W58 he just wants out of his shed (ie extra special price for me ).
Just curious as to the whole pedal situation. I know that they are rare as hens teeth 2nd hand, and I'm pretty sure that I don't want to know what they are worth new! So basically has anyone ever thought of using hydraulic race pedals?
This struck me in a stroke of semi-drunken genius last night. I can get a willwood pedal, master cylinder and remote resivoir for well under the average 2nd hand soarer pedal price. Anyone done this before? Anyone see any potential dramas with this?
Cheers

Yeah suppose it doesnt hurt to ask, They might not be that expensive, then again they could be? Saves you messing around with another setup if it doesnt cost too much.
P.S if your gonna have decent power after your rebuild, is it worth using the W58 Gearbox?

Refer to my experience with the exploding W58 stock Toyota pressure plate, and ask Neil about my theory on THAT being the weakpoint of the W58.
End of the day, by the time you do the majority of the manual conversion work to fit a W58, there's really minimal effort required to then move onto an R154 should the W58 not suffice. And with Muzzy selling brand new R154s for around the 2200 mark, you can basically afford to break 3 or 4 W58s before you're coming close to having spent that much.
I say give the W58 a crack, if you DO break it, then move up to the R154. If it holds, then you've saved yourself the best part of 2k.
PS I have a 1JZ W58 fly here to get rid of if your mates box doesnt come with one

Ah, well thats substantially better than what I was quoted last time!
Neil, just FYi... I'm not going a full rebuild for performance reasons, I'm doing it so the motor will last another 200,000km!

a re-built W58
I'm guessing we all missed this part? This thing is as strong as a 154 at the moment, the only thing that can possibly break now is the forks, and I have a set of custom ones that I will put in if I go down this road.
Contrary to popular belief of late, I'm not a complete idiot (I'm only half way there!). Yes I'm looking for a cheaper alternative (who isn't), but I'm not compromising on quality!
