I've spoken to David RE the auto box rebuilds and he can't be sure it'll hold 340rwkw+, not because he doesn't know what he's doing but because he hasn't tested the physical limitations of the box. From what i could gather he CBF devoting some of the time/effort/research from the several sub 10 second XR6 T builds he's working on to A series Toyota transmissions.
Generic shift kits are easy, because they're well... generic. There's nothing MV does thats *special* there. A few differences between how they achieve the desired result (different valves modified to differing extents), a few different parts (AFAIK accumulator springs) maybe but still the same concept.
In regards to complete A series rebuilds though, they've spent a lot of time and money on Shanes transmission which has quite clearly paid dividends in the long term. Kudos to them for making it happen.

MV Automatics is 08 8370 0430 They can build you a box good for 500rwkw. Bargain considering it is $2600, including 1.5 shift kit and 2800 stallie (with lockup). The 1.5 shift kit is pretty harsh compared to the stage 1, be warned ;)
Mine was fitted last Fri but failed due to some teflon ring/seal, and they are fixing it under warranty at a local place. Should be OK to pickup this afternoon and I'll update you on what I think of it.

Picked up the auto on Fri afternoon, the gits who put it back together may not have done it right, makes a clicking noise as you drive along grrrr Drives fine though and does everything it should do properly. Very strange to drive with the stallie!
