I've just sent mine to MV on Tuesday from Newcastle, will let you know what I think when I get it back :-) Do you have to run it in when you get it back, or can you just go straight to the drags?

NOrmally they want 500+km's run in time on an auto... Well, thats what i ran in my VL years ago, just to be safe. Remember, the clutches have to wear in . I guess its similar to running in a new Diff or anything new.

yeah spent alot of time chatting with dave from kewish he actually installed the shiftkit in the current box was around 400 bucks from memory, but i need a box thats gonna hold and not cost me an arm and a leg ...
got quoted $7100 for a powerglide set up, or my other option was a 3 speed that drives like going down the freeway with no overdrive he wanted $6100. could never go cruisin with that for long distances
in comparison to mv $3000 all up.

No reason not to run a MV built a340.
its been proven to work by shane whos is running in the mid 9 second region.

if your going to go crazy on a gearbox, just go and air shifted lenco 5 speed.. lol
That would be warrented in the 7/8 second bracket

cant go past MV

they have the runs ont he board, the other guys claiming they build just as good A340's dont.

$3000 for a box as strong as mine is chicken feed compared to a C4,Th400 or powerglide.

from my real world experience i am confident mikes box can have a prolonged life even at the 10.00 range and aroudn the 700rwhp mark. we are now in territory weel above that for horsepower and et, the car has a 9.1 et in it at present. the planetary gears are now the weakest link, once we get to the point where they become unreliable then i will certainly go to a powerglide.

just for those that dont know, my box now has done a touch over 200 passes at the track, the same on the dyno and about 40,000 street driven kilometres.

i guarantee no other 9 second car in the country has a gearbox that has been through that and lived to tell the tale.

I've just received my MV box on Monday, goes in tomorrow. I have to go to Taree and Forster next week, so that should put some kms on. Or would highway kms not be ideal for running it in?

Went for the stage 2 auto, with stage 1.5 shift kit. $2600 + $250 shipping (both ways).
TNT lost the torque converter on the way there, so Mike had to use one of his spares, I might send him my old one to replace it if he asks. They have been fantastic to deal with, always available to talk to on the phone, and very helpful.

Great value for such a strong transmission.

i got a phone call from mike at mv today and he said that all was going well with the rebuild but he asked me who did the shift kit.
i told him dave at kewish,
he the asked if it shifted ok ....thinking about it it never responded like some of you guys have reported on here never chirped into gears etc but i blamed the box that i had cause it was thrashed and i needed to get by for the next six months while i saved for my upgrade..well anyways he began to tell me that who ever did the shiftkit had no regards for my transmission and that he did a pig of a job drilling holes everywhere and then to top it off he used spare bolts that where lying around not even the original bolts and used springs that he found next to those bolts that arnt even hardend ones. mike went on how these guys get away with this crap to cut a long story short the valve body was totally destroyed and was going to the tip even mv couldnt fix it....im so pissed off cause kewish has a good rep and they go and do this kind of sh...t!!!!

I've been warned by a few people to stay away from Kewish... While others are very happy!

The funny thing though, If you speak to Kewish, they have very few kind words to say about the MV kits either LOL

have any of kewishs customers ran 200 passes at the track, 200 on a dyno and done 35000k's on their box without dramas?

have any of kewish's customers put over 700 rwhp through there box? have any of kewish's customers ran a 9? a 10? hell even an 11 on their a340?

MV has the runs on the board. i have never heard of an un happy customer of mikes.

Kewish said they would not guarantee one of there worked boxes on a 1J with the amount of power I'm running.... They recommended I "Upgrade" to a C4 box!!!
