I have probably searched everything for this but still haven't been satisfied as yet with an answer. Are the Transmission solenoids external or internal? I have to drop tranny into L everytime I pull off and then while I am driving put it into D and this is the process for the whole ride. It's not that bad seeing that most trips here on the island don't last longer than 20 minutes max. Somebody Please Help me. I don't want to have to change my tranny to soon.

Solenoids in internal.

Your driving style shouldn't effect the gearbox.

and how do I replace them. I am wondering, are these soleniods in the fluid pan area, because when i dropped the pan to change the filter I saw these 3 gold/bronze/copper (whatever color you want to call them) things directly over the magnets in the pan. Would that be them.

They are attached to the valve body and have wires going into them. Stand out like dogs balls :-)
The black/dark grey one is for the torque converter lockup, and it rarely stuffs up. The 2 brassy colored ones are the pair to replace.
