Just a question for guys and girls that have a turbo soarer and run big single turbos, i have just finished my setup but my diff is untouched and i was just wondering if anybody has had issues with the stock diff and if so what did they upgrade to?

Luke, very few people opted for the stage 2 shift kit(like your profile suggests) but i did. i ran it with my stock turbos running mid 12sec. i think the massive shudder on gear change over a period of 4 years combined with the drag racing and sticky tyres, was the direct cause of the torsen centre housing that holds the gears braking. only a small bit broke off, but it meant that a pin was no longer securely located, and it moved and jammed the diff. I upgraded to a TRD centre.I have also got a stage 1.5 kit now. the big power supras here in NZ are wearing their diffs out only very slowly, and are handling 350- 400 rwkw for years. the diffs that have broken have done the ring and/or pinion gear rather than the LSD centre. One 'diff breaker' had 500rwkW, the other had 400rwkW plus NOS, and had done literally hundreds of passes on the strip(10.97 sec best) The condition of your diff will make a big difference as to how long it lasts. if it has been poorly serviced( lack of oil changes) then the wear inside can contribute to failure once big power is added- which is what happened to Martin Donnon's project soarer. If it has clean oil in it, drive it like it is. buy a cheap open wheeler diff as a spare(so you have a spare ring and pinion) and the aftermarket LSD centre are cheaper to put in a non lsd type diff than a torsen( something about side bearings or side shafts i think). In summary, my experience suggests that the condition of your diff and your stage 2 shift kit will be bigger factors in the longevity of your diff than the 350rwkW from the GT3540. All the best.
