Hey all, I brought myself a 1993 twin turbo Soarer a few days back (I've wanted one for years). It seems pretty solid and everything works as it should, but being that it's my first Soarer and, my first auto car, I was wondering if it's normal that I'm getting heat coming off of the transmission? The whole centre console tends to get a bit warm, not hot by any means, kind of like if the heater was on low, I can just notice a little bit of heat. Is this something to worry about?

Nope mine does it aswell.... they get really hot when your on the motorway too!! a Tranny cooler kit will cool it down a little and maybe extend the life but as long as its serviced you should be sweet for a long will depending on how the previous owners maintained it!

hey fellas. had my jzz30 for over 2 years now. its on its second engine and trans unfortunately for me the previous owner didn't treat it with a great deal of respect... anyway.. my transmission always used to run hot as hell.. when i put it in it was fine.. i notice the front cooler pipe was kinked.. got it straightened by a pirtek tek and put an aftermarket cooler on. i also got a oil temp sensor tapped into the sump.. it will run at bout 50 - 60'C normally but with a lil treatment will easily top 80 going close to 90.. do i need a bigger cooler or is close to 90 but not over 90 ok??

Mine gets to 90 when going up hills for an extended period of time, this is with a 2800 stallie and 2 transmission coolers (plus the factory in-radiator cooler). But usually sits around 70-80.
As long as you keep it under 100 it is fine, the closer to 80 you can get it, the longer it will last.

Soarers always run hot no matter what i have the biggest trans cooler i could fit on there and it still runs hot but at the end of the day as long as its running fine you have nothing to worry about

i have two medium size coolers, connected in series-have disconnected from the radiator. the trans temp is usually about 55-70 degrees, but with abuse, can head towards 90 briefly. i have a high stall convertor,3000-3500rpm. 120 degrees is the temp at which you need to shut the car down, you are getting towards damage area.below 100 is fine.

I have just installed a auto cooler and I am doing a auto transmission service at the same time. I have bought a filter for the transmission and it is a sheetmetal product. my question is this. Is it necessary to change this filter or do you just clean it??
