Hi guys... my gear box is good. but in case in future there is a problem, can i buy a early model V8 auto gear box and replace my late model V8 gear box?

from 96/97 theres a 5 speed autobox, before that is four speed. you can probably fit it but it wont drive the same. you might need to replace some ecu stuff also.
i asked a simple question before can i fit a LS400 gearbox into my soarer (longer ratios)? all i got from people here was a joke.
wheres all the intelligent people? we need answers!!

i must correct you on that as i believe that my 97 V8 soarer has a 4 speed auto box not 5 speed. i think 5 speeds comes with the 98 VVTI ls400 with the 4.3L engine.

JDM Soarers as we have in Australia and the UK were not fitted with the 5 speed gearbox. It was only supplied on the late model (97?) US SC-400 along with the VVTi V8 engine.
Gearboxes on JDM V8 Soarers from 91-97 are the same.

Aleem, Umm I thought the ls400 gearbox was the same? i put a ls400 (celcior) gearbox in and it works...the extension housing needs to be changed for the soarer one. When i say it works well its a bit jerky even though its apparently in better condition. Longer ratio's?

Hi Ben , yes the box is the same and will work ,If the box you used was out of a pre 1994 they are the same . I have put a 1991 harness into a 1994 and had to change the plugs in the box as they are different .
