I'm in the process of getting a more friendly clutch (Exedy Heavy Duty) put in and I just realized that I don't know what gearbox I have in the soarer, as It was converted to manual in japan.

So how do I tell if I have a r154 or w58 gearbox ?

Cheers

Hello

Its very easy

If you have factory manual have a look at the engine/compliance plate . If you have a r154 it will say that on the plate!

Have a look under, if it has two inspection plates, one each side low down on the bellhousing, then its an r154.

W58 has the throwout fork protruding out of the inspection plate on the passenger side. If its a w57, 55 etc they all take the same clutch i believe.

Well I had a look under the car today and it dos indeed have an inspection plate on each side of the bellhousing. I have taken a picture just to confirm it is a R154 gearbox ?
