hi everyone.

i've just done the 100,000k service on my car (timing belt, thermostat, fluids, plugs etc) its a 92 TT auto

my problem is, when i drive it i get a distinct vibration which feels like its coming from the transmission at 4900 - 5000rpm, after that the car doesn't vibrate anymore?

only at that rev range does it happen and it never happened before i swapped everything over. the timing and everything is correct (as far as i can tell)

any idea's of where i should start looking? is there anyway to test the engine mounts, or do i have to pull them out and physically inspect them?

after double checking my timing, when the cam's are at TDC the crank pulley is actually at about 10 degree's below TDC.

could this also be an issue?

Sounds a bit weird. If you were 10 degrees out on cam timing I'd expect major running problems, not just restricted to a 100rpm range.

Its more likely the shuddering you are feeling is a harmonic resonance. If its not just as simple as a out of balance weel, then possibly its the driveshaft?
