G'day guys,

On my 3.0GT Soarer, I've done a trans flush with the right fluid but it's always had a rather choppy gear change.

Like it revs up normally and changes at 6300 (whatever it is) but it is quite a jerky change so you can jolt around a bit depending on what my throttle position is, far harsher than my UZZ31s gear changes so somethings not right.

It also has the o/d light flashing occasionally, usually after a longer drive which from my searching is something to do with the shifting solenoid?

My guess its a sticky solenoid that needs replacing, any furthers ideas which one it would be if it is?

Try undoing the LPS cable a bit.

On the V8's the shift pressure is controlled by the cable that runs from the throttle body down to the trans.

This can be adjusted to control the base line pressure.

I would have thought that the diagnostics would tell you which of the solenoids it is seeing a problem from.

Matt.

Yeah, that was the first thing I tried when I first got the car, didn't change it just altered the kick down on different throttle positions.

I'll try take a closer look at the flashing pattern of the O/D light to see if I can work out exactly what its saying.

Mike, you could try taking it to Auckland Automatics - they know the A340 very well and should be able to diagnose it within a few minutes.
