Just recently my soarer has started clunking and 'jumping' forwards semi-violently when I place it in Drive.

Any ideas how to fix this problem? Havent had a flush done scince I bought it, back in may this year

perhaps your line pressure cable is too tight and needs to be adjusted.

Use the search function for a "how to" and hopefully that will help you out.

BUT REMEMBER - Do NOT loosen the cable too much as that will make your auto really sloppy between gear changes and probably cause your tranny to wear out quicker.

Welcome to the club mate ! We need more dirty NZ folk on the forum hahah

Would it be that? I may have been being silly the other weekend and dropped it from Neutral into Drive with several revvs on it... which i don't think it really appreciated very much.

It might be worth checking your engine mounts as broken mounts will cause the motor to move around when you shift into drive.

Put it in drive and with the bonnet open and someone watching give the car a few revs with the brake full on and watch for excessive movement.

Yeah I think like Matt its engine/gearbox mounts

Other things it could be, the line pressure cable being adjusted wrongly...

And don't do N-D launching, that's just going to ruin your gearbox.

Yeah I don't plan to do it anymore in future.

I will check the engine/gearbox mounts later this evening.

The only other thing is that it is as smooth as anything P > R. But into D and it will clunk and jump.

Hi Thomas, you mention you haven't done a transmission flush since you bought the car. I got my v8 about 4 years ago and had never done a flush either - the fluid looked perfectly OK etc. Recently I decided to remove the transmission and change the crankshaft rear oil seal because there was some seepage from the bell housing. I did this over the last few days, changed the crankshaft oil seal, and also the transmission front oil seal, which was beginning to show signs of leakage. I took the opportunity to drain as much fluid out of the torque converter as I could. Then after putting everything back together I refilled with Type T4 fluid, put around 7 litres in to get the right level, so about a litre of the old fluid must still have been in the transmission. And the result? Feels like an overhauled transmission - smooth selection of R and D, seamless changes, and much more rapid throttle responses. So my advice is, go for that flush asap - I wish I'd done it ages ago!

I have the same problem but clunk and jump from P to R.

Clunk on deceleration downshifts.

I have trans flushed roughly 10,000ks ago.

My mechanic narrowed it down to the diff but we changed that yesterday....

Ill have a look at the engine mounts.

Anything other ideas will be super :-)

Same here...

Gear change from P to R is smooth, but from P to D is real bad; ie, 'Jerks the car forward'.
Just had a flush about 3,000kms ago.

Any ideas will be great guys..

How high is your car idling? If your idle is a bit to high it will also cause the same problem.

My car idles at 600rpm when warm. Im still puzzled to what is causing it to thud.

I heard a strange ticking sound driving next to a concrete wall. Happens when i gas n release. Sounds like its coming from the trans or there abouts.

Could be the centre bearing... See how long i can put up with it hehe
