lol, soarer Autos :<

Mine took a dive a few months back and i got a "low k's" box off my mechanic (he put it in) and now it
"feels" like when it warms up its slipping in gear (like the old one did but no where near as bad).

Its got a 3 month warranty so i think its time to have a friendly chat with the mechanic ;)

I find this "slipping" business curious- my Subaru had this for years, and I took it to an auto specialist who went for a drive (the car was hot and it was a hot day in Brisbane) he and he basically said "tired box, needs replacement, $2500". That was January 2002, and other than changing the fluid I've done nothing to it. I didn't want to spend $2500 on a $6500 car, with 290,000km up.

Since the current owner's only next door I hear it all the time- it still slips, but as far as I know, has never "burnt the fluid". We live on a steep hill.

Anyway, getting back to the problem at hand, would a JZZ31 box fit? I mean, if it's the same box, they're likely to be much less thrashed than a TT box. ECUs might be different though... perhaps.

Get a good 2nd hand 'box, fit a cooler and shift kit, flush and don't worry about it anymore.

The cooler and shift kit will help keep a good auto going for a very long time.

Question for both Mark and Mustafa, did your transmissions have the same problems that i described?

If so i'll be chasing that shift kit asap! (already have the cooler sitting in my garage, just not sure where to mount it still having the SMIC is all)

mine was slipping in second gear.also was heating the trans tunnel a fair bit.. instead of chasing wether it was a solenoid or not i changed the box.
in your case why not go to a tranny specialist and have it diagnosed if its mechanical or a solenoid?
probably your best bet

John, i know i know ;D

I havent quite started that road yet. The guys at DCI checked it out and they said they can hear the solenoids making lots of noise, and also think it may be a valve thing.
Shaun got down and dirty with a voltmeter and found out that ~mid range in the throttle there was a complete drop in voltage (i dont know what that means myself >.>) which lead them to believe the throttle positioning sensor (tps) was faulty, but it checked out ok.
Im now taking it tho _ANOTHER_ mechanic to find out whats going on. Bob Flood in Bassendean. Apparently he knows the transmission on a jzz30 really well.
I get the feeling im doing the run around here >.>
