I have a 92 Lexus SC400/Soarer V8 and i reckon the trans under normal driving shifts rather early. No problem going to red line with full throttle, but for example when turning say a 30km/h corner when re applying acceleration will still be in third, so for a half decent acceleration out of the corner will require almost three-quater acceleration. Is this normal with V8 Soarers or do i need to adjust something.....

Sounds fairly normal to me, are you running in normal or power ECT mode?

Sounds to me one of your shifting solenoids could be buggered.

You could try adjusting the TPS cable on the TB, or doing an ECU reset, they might make your car a bit more lively.

I'd start with resetting the ECU and doing some hard starts to get the ECU learning to hold a gear for a more aggressive drive and kicking down more readily.

See how that goes first...

Sounds perfectly normal.

It wouldn't hurt to do diagnostics to see if any error codes come up though.

if your line pressure cable is a little tighter than usual it will shift very fast into high gears and will not kick down as easily.

BUT you will get more life out of your auto as it reduces the stall (read - slipping) in your box.

I have mine pretty tight along with a shift kit and it flys through the gears.. LOVE it. If i want to downshift i just do it manually.

For more info on line pressure - do a search.

NOTE - do not loosen it off too much or you will slush your auto into an early death
