I am thinking about getting mine done up for the drags, has anyone got one of these and have you had any problems? What sort of difference did it make to 60ft times etc..

I got my 60' down to 1.6sec but no chance without the stall convertor even with big power, I managed to leave the mark at 4000-4200 rpm. I have not heard of any problems with MV's work?

This one comes with a 3000rpm high stall, I am going to stay with the stock turbo's and run a 100 shot of NOS (after I break daniel's record)so that should suit. I haven't heard any bad things about their boxes, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

Good launch is more in the converter rather than the box. If you want to compare apples to apples as Joe had a 2jz, My 1jz best 60 foot was 1.589. I used a 2800/3200rpm stall converter made by MV autos (cost was $380 exchange). It would go to close to 2800 on initial throttle, then on brake stall get to 3200rpm. However if your setup is good, ie it can build boost against the converter, it'll keep going up over the brake stall. My best launches were when the tacho was at 3600rpm (visually before letting go of the brakes), however this translates to about 3900-4100rpm when the car actually starts moving as the rear sits down, basically it's like being in a sling shot.
The car would start moving with between 17-20psi of boost built up.
As for the box, I'd go MV personally and get their superduper 500kw box, this is only going to help the consistancy of your car down the quarter with big power.

MV have quoted $2850 for the Stage 2 box, it has a 3000rpm high stall, they do the clutch packs? and a heap of other stuff that Mike said which I wasn't real familiar with (don't know a lot about auto tranny's). He said it would hold up around 500kw with out a problem, which is way more than I am going to be making. The Stage 3 box he said is spragless, manualised with a B&M shifter, about $3400

just get the stage 2 box bro. You'd need to be running 9's to bust it.
With my stall converter, the way I set the stall range was a test Mike told me to run. Basically at what RPM the engine makes 5psi of boost. If you have data logging it's easy to work out.

I'm running a stage 2 Box for MV and I love it, it's holding 500rwhp with ease, I'm currently using a 3500rpm converter. I have a PWR tranny cooler and the box feels bullet proof, even after 3 hours on the dyno the tranny was a cool 60 degrees no sign of slip.
I would use a 3200rpm converter with CT12a's. If if your making more then 5psi at 3200 all the better, You will just lunch with more torque which will help with your 60'. If your making any kind of power you will be able to stall a STD converter above 3000rpm, If will require hand and foot brakes but it can be done, I can do it in my daily driver (1jz soarer) and also in my brothers soarer.
How many rwkw do you think you will make when it is all finished? depending on that there is another option, It involves a bit of custom work but nothing that you won't be able to handle. You can do it for under $1500 and will hold around 340rwkw.

launching at 5psi at 3200rpm??
i dont know what rpm i was launching at the other day at heathcote, i had my eye on the boost controller and was launching at 10-12psi with a stock auto. hand and foot brake.
thats probably why it doesnt want to change gear on boost anymore.
