Hey guys, long time no post relatively
anyways, i got dynoed at 233rwkw on 16psi. for the hell of it ive been running 23psi, car pulls like a freight train, and im sure im making more than 233rwkw.
motor is all good. normally when i plant it and the car changes gear, the car makes a fart/popping kinda noise when it changes gears which i know is normal for a standard auto.
now over time, when i plant it, the car goes no where, revs increas and i hear boost increasing, but the car is constantly making the fart noises, sounds exactly like when the car would change gear but it wont stop until i ease up on the gas.
initially i thought maybe my spark plugs couldnt handle the high boost (standard plugs as far as im aware) but now im thinking its the auto.
i have no tools to check spark plugs and have a new job working full time so getting out to have the car looked at is pretty much impossible for the next few weeks.
i can still drive it normally no worries, but when i was at heathcote yesterday the car ran like and i only managed a 13.7 when my best is 13.2.
so, with the symptoms described, does it sound like its the auto or a spark problem? any input is appreciated, any questions about the situation, ask!

nothing has melted. i kinda figure if it blows it gives me a proper excuse to buy a 2JZ motor and drop that in. if i have a working motor i cant justify buying a new one.
yeah im starting to think its the box more and more. if i cant find an aristo auto i have a friend with a soarer box he cant get rid of so ill find out what he likes to drink.
hasnt been tuned for 23... but i put in 98 ron petrol and octane booster. but if the motor blows, it blows and i can buy a better one. and its not like it sees boost much anyways as i only drive 20km to and from work.
thanks for the reply i think others will say the same

Forgive the hijack, My v8 tranny fluid needs a top up. Apparently I'm told only one type to be used in v8 and my mechanic is out of stock. He gave me part no. 08886-81120. can anyone confirm this is correct.Toyota could not. On other threads a type A is mentioned, are they one in the same? and whats this T II fluid on the dipstick? cheers

If the motor is constantly missing as revs increase, that isn't the auto it's the spark being "blown out". A stuffed auto wont make the engine miss. A new set of coilpacks and a HKS DLI will fix it and 440 injectors to make it safer.

For Wes, Many threads mention that Toyota Type IV transmission fluid is the recommended one. Some dealers carry it some do not. I always take the advice of the over whelming majority in this site. There are some threads on planet soarer as well. I'm having a tranny flush tomorrow - using 12 litres.rrp $49.50 for 4 litres in Innisfail FNQ.
