hey guys..i recently picked up a very nice jzz30 for stupidly cheap. it has had the auto pulled out and an r154 thrown in..so epic win there. only thing is i think the shifter housing being used is the jza70 one..and my shifter sits way too far forward..when its in 1st,3rd or 5th my shifter is no more than a few mm from the head unit, and the guy has literally cut the shifter surround at the front to make room for it. im guessing i probably need to get my hands on a jza80 remote shifter assembly to get it back where it should be? is this correct?

you can bend the shifters so they come back, or cut it of and weld it on in a better place cheers

The JZA80 remote is only for the W58 or V160, not the R154.

The JZZ30 early model's R154 is very similar to the JZA70 but the shifter is about 20mm further back.

The late model JZZ30 has a full remote shifter.

The JZX90 has a full remote shifter, but I'm not sure if its identical to the JZZ30's

The JZX100 has a full remote shifter, but its not bolt on compatible with the early R154's.

What Michael said. Goose neck the shifter or cut & re-weld it. There is a writeup on ALSC on how to use the remote shifter assembly without the bits you cant get from Toyota anymore.
