so recently my speedo stopped working and i managed to find out the plastic cog that connects to the speedo sensor was worn/stuffed.

so i tracked down another (2nd had but it good nick) and popped that in and everything was fine for a while.

but driving to work today my speedo cut out and i started to get the ECT and o/d warning, gear changes where still fine and everything.

so i got home today and pulled out the cog and it looks pretty worn again??

so i'll track down a brand new one through toyota in the next couple of days. but what could be causing the cogs to wear down so quick. they should last longer then a couple of months.

what does that cog mount to inside the gear box? could that be causing it and how do i replace it?

any info would be greatly appreciated.

hava

old mate mentions changing the DRIVE cog that turns the plastic bit on the speedo sensor. anyone know how to replace this?
