Well I have a broken transmission in one car and need it replaced. I have a non movable soarer in the garage and was wondering if i could remove it myself? high rated / high heigh jack stands and take it out and put it in the back of my other car, or another car to take to the mechanic. is this really possible for me to do ? or is there any tutorials?

If you have some mechanical know how then not a problem . I have done a few over the years and all using a jack and jack stands .I put a block of timber under each stands (100mm)so I don't have to extend them all the way out , you need it so you can slide the auto out when on the ground ,i think they become unsafe when you start pushing the Auto in or out .The first thing is you need TWO people to do this when it comes to one under the car holding the auto and pushing it back to slide it out and someone outside holding the jack and letting it down for you when you need it to come down (slowly). The other problem is making sure it stays on the jack as if can slip off easy when pulling it out or putting it back in . The Plugs (wiring) is a bit hard to get at but if you lower the back auto mounts you can get a better shot at them , the oil lines need to be moved over so the bell housing will clear when coming out and then back in .Mane thing is just take you time and THINK before you start undoing something .

Sometimes problems can be found and fixed by taking transmissions apart, especially when you get quoted $2000 for a repair when its only 2 cooked rubber seals causing the problem.
If you want less hassle though, auto boxes come up for sale here and then for good prices.
