With that shifter there you'd need to rig up some custom wiring for overdrive to suit with the shift pattern, e.g. the numbers 3 and 4 on the shifter panel would need to have some sort of switch to engage/disengage overdrive from what I can see, and you'd need to see if it'll physically fit onto the original trim panel, therefore keeping the original ECT button.
I have a gated shifter in my GS300, awesome stuff lol

yeah i been wanting one of these for a few days then this afternoon said to me
"hey don't you HATE gated shifters?"
i was like "WADDAYA MEAN THEY LOOK AWSM LOL"
and she goes
no rowan, i mean, don't you hate DRVING with these? remember how you drove my mum's i30 and said it was hard to find the gears?
and yeah - that reminded me - i don't like gated shifters hahaha
SOOOOO
new plans... i'm getting my sydney connect to do black perforated retrim job, and send the buttons and collars and accents off to a plastics chromer to just "redo" the existing shifter instead

Hey guys,
I picked up Matt Tai's gated shifter and have already started to fit it. So far with very minor modifications it looks to be a good fit.
I need to drill 3 new support holes and get longer bolts but nothing major, I'll also need to make a new fiber glass face plate as the JZX100 one won't fit and the Soarer one won't accommodate the new shifter.

oh good stuff was wondering if you got the package from what i read i think you might also need to extend or shorten the shifter linkage (cut and reweld? or bolt on additional length adapter) but that should be the extent of any mechanical change needed

I haven't extended the shifter, and it sits quite low, just above the face plate.
If you used spacers on the mounting points it would put the control linkage out. you would have to cut n weld or find a longer one, maybe the original might be able to swapped over not sure but it would be a bigger job.
I needed to drill out the control linkage to add some extra length to the mounting slot as it didn't allow me to cleanly select 2nd. When shifting from 3(D+OD) to 2 it would sometimes select L instead. Extending the slot fixed this.
I also had to drill new mounting points, original point didn't match the new shifter unit.
As the unit sits lower than the face place I hot glued the shift lock open so I don't need to press the red button when shifter out of park or into reverse when car isn't running.

yep thats what the guys in the US have to do for their late model SC300s. i was wondering if it was going to be the same case with the JZX and it looks like it is
