i've got the auto box off the block, and i'm bout ready to bolt up the r154 box. also got to bolt in the clutch master cyclinder, fit the clutch pedal, and swap the auto brake pedal over to a manual one.

now, there's this big fat balancer-looking wheel attached to the crank where i need to put the flywheel etc for the manual box - how do i get this off?? do i need a special puller?

also, regarding the changeover from the auto brake pedal to the factory manual pedal you sold me, is there an easy way of unclipping the auto pedal in-situ, and just clipping the manual one in, or do i have to take out the whole pedal-box to swap them over?

any other "it'll be easier if you do it this way/in this order" tips for me?? i'm planning on getting stuck into it by myself over the weekend...

Brake pedal you will see is very simple..Look at its pivoting point and you will see the bolt that goes through it..

Second..I cant picture this *big fat balancer-looking wheel* you are talking about ??
(Any chance of a pic ??? )

HAHHAHAHAHHA

Now I can see it :-)

You pulled the auto and left the converter attached to the flexplate..hahahahahahahah

It is BOLTED to the flexplate from the front side of it..6 x 14mm head bolts.

beautiful - it'll just unbolt, no puller or anything?

and apologies for the lack of terminology - first time i've worked on an auto - actually, first time i've worked on anything post-1975

but, i've got the manuals, and my mate'll be back for the important stuff (eg engine top end re-assembly)...just wanted to get the box onto the block and stuff done in preparation while he's away.

thanks for your help mate!

Awww, if Don moves I'll have to do everything myself. Plus Soarers are generally 5-10k cheaper over here.....and sooooo much easier to modify and get back on the street (Only costs you a $350 odd Cert)...Oh, and did I mention the sheep are reeeeal friendly like

BTW, thanks for ringing and running around for me Don, you're a saint and I love ya

neil - i dont suppose you would have a picture of the correct clutch release cylinder (the one that bolts to the box) for the 1jz r154?

i think i may have been supplied with the wrong one....is there a difference between the r154 and w58 release cylinder?

neil - back again

any tips for bolting up the clutch pedal assembly??

i've got a complete clutch pedal assembly, all assembled in the bracket - all i've gotta do is bolt it in place (yeah, right, SOUNDS simple....)

i've cut the holes out for the master cylinder and its studs, but there is no way in hell that i can see that i can A) line up both master cylinder studs with the holes in the pedal bracket B) push it all far enough up to get a nut onto one of the master cylinder studs or C) get any sort of tool, or even the bolt for that matter, into that bolt hole right up the top of the clutch pedal bracket....i spent a good 3 hours of expletive-filled frustration trying to get it to happen.

i must be missing something?? (please tell me i dont have to drop the dash.....)

i DID get the brake pedal swapped over though, only about an hour, and 2 expletives, so a fairly simple job

Tips,
Pull the drivers seat out :-)

Persistance,,Persistance..Thats the key word..
No you dont have to remove the dash mate.
(Although would make easier and only add about 8hrs to the job)!!!! hehehehehehe

(Dont even think about NOT installing that top 12mm bolt,if you do,you will eventually brake the clutch assembly bracket)

1hr to swap the brake pedal ??? (I hope you didnt remove the whole assembly).
Plus,,Its easier to instal the clutch assembly with the brake pedal out..hehehehe

yeah...i was thinking i might have to take the brake pedal out.....

1 hour to do the brake pedal...would have only been a 10 minute job if the little japanese man who put it in had put the nut on the side where that little black box is, and the bolt in so that it could be pulled out into all that open space above the accelerator....but instead, he did it the other way, so that when i pulled the bolt, it came halfway out, then hit the black box....hence, much wriggling, bending, and swearing was required, all of which take time

i've 90% finished a manual conversion, lsd installation, and single turbo conversion all at once in my car-port, and the single hardest job of the whole affair has been fitting the clutch pedal

also...there's a factory plug hanging off the wiring loom right where the clutch goes, that fits into the connection on the clutch pedal....do i plug it in???

if so, did they really use the same wiring loom for autos and manuals??

yeah....i kinda come from the perspective that the less i remove, the less i can manage to stuff up, especially when it comes to electrical/interior stuff, cos they ALWAYS seem to break on me....
