Hi guys. I had an accident recently and although it wasn't too bad, both of the engine mounts and the gear box mounts sheered off and everything moved forward an inch or so.
It's all been fixed and the car runs and gear box works perfect, except that I can't get Park. The stick is physically all the way up and the light next to the stick says P, but the dash says REVERSE. The car moves in reverse...so the box is in reverse...not park.
When I pull the stick as far back as I can, it only goes to where 2nd would be. The dash says 1st and the car acts like it's in 1st.
Long story short, the gears are all up one, so when the gearbox jumped forward, the stick's ratchet system must have jumped a gear.
Does anyone know anything about how they work? Any help is appreciated. Cheers

You probably bent the external shift linkage in the accident when the box shifted but the lever was stuck/locked in position in the cabin???? Happened to me many years ago on a lesser car...

Look at that...all sorted in 2 replies. Cheers guys. I'll get under it tomorrow and fix her up...since the front bar is off and I can actually get her up on ramps. Thankyou!!
