Jesus.. not 2 minutes after doing a proper full flush using 15 litres of amsoil synthetic ATF my shifting went to hell.. over revving to 6000 before shifting from first to second, second to third overrevving by a grand, for a minimum of 4 to 5 seconds... when you punch it to the floor, it willNOT shift until you feather the gas pedal.. and ROUGH.

flushing back to toyota T-IV twice (going through 20 litres) improved the situation slightly but has not solved the issue...

just another lesson guys, stick to toyota T-IV,, and do an R154 5speed swap ffs.. our auto trannys are not the greatest.

Mine too, lots of passes on the strip, lots of burnouts, plus the young bloke who had it before me thrashed the hell out of it. No toyota fluid either, just dexron 3 plus the shift kit.

Yeah, I use Valvoline Dex 3 with a Wynns additive and its pretty good - took around 11 litres to flush - of course I have only a measly 2JZ-GE and a totally bog standard A340.

In auto transmissions, slipperier is not betterer. Nothing wrong with the Toyota trans, just the guy who fed it what it didn't ask for. Don't put salt water in your radiator either.

Mike, sounds like there's air in the system..

The auto oil pump must have spun dry which would imply it was filled too slowly or you drained the pan before flushing.

I've used synthetic fluids (castrol transmax-z) with no problem. Seen up to 340kw at the rears from a standard auto (in gear) using this fluid and a shift kit..

Indeed, the transmission specialists I've spoken to over the years all rate the A340 as a good unit.
