I read about changing gears ( auto tt )on the steering wheel by pressing button/s instead of on the gear stick but can't find the thread here , it was on the old forum . It is like the tiptronic style
does anyone knows where I can get that info , How much approx and who can do it in bris or gold coast ?

I think you will need a new transmission ECU like the Suprastick in order to have this function, then wire it up to the paddles/buttons on the steering wheel.

Well you can always ask Benjamin Burgess as I believe he has just very recently installed this into his car.

I think he is still trying to work out how to use this ECU at it's full potential though. Get in contact with him and ask :-)

Michael, I was on the phone to Lew a couple of days ago and he mentioned a system from the US that converts your cruise control stick to a gear shifter, give him a call and he can explain more to you.

Hi mate,

I have done this and it works perfectly. Although I have a $350 odd steering wheel with the buttons. Also I have a suprastick $560 odd....so its not cheap mate.

Get in contact with Lew Radbourn he can sort you out.

Yeah be me. Suprastick works awesome. I have it working for manual change in single wire mode using the cruise control stick. It's a bit flaky sometimes as being single wire there is multiple voltages and being analog makes its a bitch to get it working perfectly. A 2 wire setup using paddles would work awesome as then you have a clear difference of 0v and 12v when changes for either up or down, so very hard for the unit to screw it up. At the moment on single wire its something like 1.8v - 6.9v - 12v. 1.8v being up, 6.9v being down, and 12v being normal cruise wire voltage.

I only use manual mode on dynos or to play around with the lockup converter, so single wire for me is fine as it drives around 99% of the time in auto mode that works 95%. It's not quiet 100% as I haven't got it to be like factory, but its damn close, but I like things perfect.

I have my one hooked up to log on my CarPC, best setup ever.

Hopefully I can get this Power FC that's for sale on the forum and I'll have a true fully configurable aftermarket setup for engine and transmission all on CarPC.

Any of the JZS/UZS/JZA factory tiprtronic steering wheels will bolt in to your soarer, and the cruise paddle will work with it. Looks a treat!

Combined with a SupraStick, this will allow full control of shifts. Add a MV1.5 Shift kit, and you've got the best possible factory auto soarer.

I was thinking of doing it with a five speed auto!

Ben, how much was the setup, as this is something I would be looking into fairly shortly with my car as well, as locking gears in for the Dyno would be awesome.

BTW, are you able to assist with install (wont be for 3 - 6 months though), and I can make it worth your while.

Thanks,

B.

Guys if you buy a Supra stick, please ask for the one with two paddle wires if you are going to use a button steering wheel as the 1 paddle wire with two voltages is a complete prick to get right. I couldn't do it, bounced too much with fake gear changes etc.

I made a circuit up which will work with the supra stick and a two button steering wheel (or paddles) and still give you cruise control in Auto mode. Will then give you gear changes in manual mode.

I think you have the old firmware justin as my one came with 1/2 wire setup, switchable in software.

Brian - My one cost $520 AUS delivered however I got a custom wire made for dynoing which cost $20US extra. Happy to help with install.

Old thread I know but has anyone had any progress with the paddle or button shift/suprastick combination? I am very keen to do this to my car once it's up and running.

Soon enough ill be mucking around with this only hurdle for me is finding a Lexus steering wheel with buttons. Anyone got recommendations on a good OEM steering wheel that will fit and has buttons or paddles? Once i know i have a wheel ill be going a supra stick or CAMs box. But yeah full auto to manual switchable with buttons is what im after.

Can you fit a LHD cruise stalk to RHD car?
Then you have two triggers that follow the wheel.
Just a thought.

Scott im on clublexus pretty regularly and they use IS200/IS300 wheels aswell as the RX whell but i cant find it for sale anywhere and im not willing to pay $1500+ brand new with a airbag just for a wheel. If i was i would be going a TRD airbag wheel.

I was thinking of making my own setup with paddles or switches that can be bought off ebay or using a steering wheel like this.

To tell you the true Sebastian that thing looks terrible. Depending how much your car is worth its better to find an OEM Lexus wheel or similar. I wanted a MOMO airbag steering wheel and they dont make them, and its sucks as my car has an airbag so going OEM with an airbag and button is hell pricey. The best ive seen is the IS300 steering wheel with buttons but the airbag looks gay. Plus that link you posted i hate those non circular flat bottomed steering wheels. That style only belongs in a Formula 3000 or up.

Haha for sure man, I agree believe me I have more taste than that but I mean to get a similar wheel, not necessarily oem but with buttons. If I had the choice I'd go for the paddles instead and design my own switch to incorporate them. There are some nice carbon fibre ones on ebay for $300. I'll keep an eye out for the IS200/IS300 wheels and let you know if I find any.

Even something like this would be good.

A switch for up down and 1st gear.

Edit, I found exactly what we are after.

Yeah the BMW kit looks good but im probably not wanting to go paddles as its more sports like and im going more luxury/vip. I do hate the buttons aswell as it seems weird to me to press a button of all things to change gears. You know Sebastian you can use the cruise control stork with the supra stick. Up and down change gear but yeah just like that attached pic i couldnt see myself using cruise control or that button thing. I think im going to track down either an is300 steering wheel or something with paddles but OEM as the after market stuff mostly looks tacky. I love the way the is300 wheel looks but as i need an airbag to keep things legal the airbag part looks mega gay on the is300. I cant win can i haah

Yeah i just bid on an airbag and steering wheel but not those two. That airbag seems worn and that steering wheel has two down buttons haha. But yeah you probably agree about the airbag, that big round circle part looks hideous.

That steering wheel has the up buttons on the back of the wheel.

This is the one I'm after, it's from an 07 IS250. It's for sale for $259US but I can't find a centre for it. Where besides ebay are you looking? Can you pm me anything you are bidding on so we don't bid on the same item.
