Hi everyone, just found something interesting about my tranny, everyone here says to use toyota fluid in the TT box's but on my dipstick it says "DEXRON II" dexron 2. Do i have the wrong dipstick or something?

No Narvey, thats normal - and its the V8's (A340E's) that you need to use Toyota type IV fluid in, the JZZ3x's use an A340 (not the A340E) and will run fine on Dexron II/III as per the dipstick recommendation.
Having said that I did use Type IV in my JZZ31 up until it got so over-priced I decided to try Dex III - the Dex III seems to be just the same in my car. Still, Type IV is very good so if you can afford it, go for it.

on the advice of my penrite rep I have gone over to using the mitsubishi type m (penrite mhp) in my v8. I was having a slight shudder as it dropped out of overdrive with what was in there and the mhp has cured that and it is also a lot less sloppy in its shifting now. (trans has 140000kms on it).All you mechanics out there would know how touchy mitsi's are with their transmissions and its my understanding that the mitsi oil far exceeds the requirements laid down by toyota and is cheaper than genuine toyota type IV

Aussie new cars might be different, but most of my mates/family with Mitsi JDM imports have had them the transmission at some point - two Legnums (one a VR4 admittedly) one of those MPV thingies (sorry cant recall the name), and a Lancier.
