Hello Folks,
Has anybody in here upgraded the Soarer 4 speed Auto box with a 5 Speed auto box? I am offered a good deal on a used 5 Speed auto box from a 1998 LS400 (1UZFE engine).

I am not sure whether to buy this or not. Are there any advantages in upgrading to a 5 speed auto? I suppose fuel economy is one but not of a big concern as the gains are minimal. What about the top speed? What things I have to be concerned about when doing this upgrade?

Thanks
George Lu

I don't think that's possible.. You'll need to confirm with uncle Neil!

anything is possible. might need an aftermarket computer to run the tranny as the ecu might not like it.

I see a lot of the members upgrade from an Auto to a manual. What are the advantages of going manual? What are the options for manual W58, R154, V160? The first 2 being 5 speed the last one being 6 speed which is the best to replace the autobox considering supercharging is on the pipelines

Thanks

Fun, more power to the wheels.. the car actually becomes sporty.

Check out Rush Imports , one of the forum sponsors , he is currently making a T56 manual conversion kit .

The 5 speed auto wont work as it needs the updated wiring harnesses and the Ecu as well . Alot of mucking around for very little gained , if at all .

You'd be better off getting the engine with the 5 speed auto, should be vvt V8.
