Hi,

i am looking to purchase a worked A340E box out of a Supra to go where my Standard 1J A340E box is. I assume there is no problem switching boxes even though from a 2j?

cheers

I used an aristo auto at one stage (assuming same as jza80), needs a custom tailshaft. Will set you back a day and $350-400.

Otherwise everything bolts up, even the 1JZ auto valve body to convert the box to manual line pressure based on throttle position.

I've read that the 2j A340e is Stronger than the 1j one.

the supra one has an extra clutch pack (2nd gear i think) and is stronger. you need to be aware that it has a different length spline, and hence needs the 2jz stall convertor, which in turn has v.slightly different spaced bolt holes to bolt onto the flex plate, so you need the 2jz flex plate also. As cihan alluded to, the 2jz boxes are electronically controlled in terms of line pressure, and without this input will soon burn out under heavy driving. So install the 1jz valve body and the line pressure cable that runs to the throttle body.
