Need the help of all the gurus here.

I wish to put an A340E off a jza80 into my soarer. I understand I will need to swap the valve body from the soarer box into the one off the supra and hook up line pressure cable.

How do I go about hooking the cable up? Is there a place for the cable on the supra box already?

In addition, I need to acquire the torque converter and flexplate as well. Does this become a bolt on affair with all that?

Do I need a custom tailshaft as well?

thanks everyone

make sure you get the 2jz bellhousing, just in case it is of a different "depth" than the 1jz.
There is no hole for the cable on the jza80 box, but there is a place to make that hole,if you understand me.
i'm not sure what to do with the electrical plugs though..
the output shaft is different from memory(a 4 bolt flange rather than a sliding spline)so the driveshaft needs adapting.
I have read of one guy who used the 2jz internals and put them into the earlier box, thereby retaining the factory tail end on the gearbox and electrical plugs.
You would want someone v. experienced with the toyota a340 gearbox before you attempted this though.

I'm just wondering if its more cost effective to take the internals out and put it into the soarer box or adapting the supra box into the soarer now.

Dixon;
If you get the supra box Make sure you have the torque convertor and the drive plate and the bolts to couple them both together.(thay are larger than the 1jz ones)
then put it all in the car
You will also need to change you valve body over from the 1jz box and fit it to the 2jz box
there is an extra solinoid in the 2jz box that isn't in the 1jz.
when you have done this mate Happy days

Really Lew? No custom tail shaft to make? No line pressure cable to modify on?

Sounds like a sh.it load of work for not much gain?

Any particular benefits of the 2j box compared to the 1j apart from a 10-20% increase in torque rating going by engine power and torque figures?

so if I do the 2JZ autobox onto a 1jz engine with new clutch bands, 1JZ valve body, hook up the line pressure.

I need 2jz flexiplate, torque converter to go with that.

What about the front section of the drive shaft? What's the ideal way to sort this?

Also do I need to worry about the extra solenoid?

ps. Lew I'm back. :-)

Chris grab the front section of the drive shaft to suit the 2jz box.
the solinoids will be the same as the 1jz as you will be fitting the 1jz valve body in the 2jz box as well.
hahahahhaha thats fine mate if i am around i am more than happy to advise what i have done several times before ...My little van has a 2jz box with a 1jz valve body in it.
so exactly what i am explaining for you to do is exactly what the little van has in it already.
