Finally got around to buying a stage 1.5 from MV Autos. So I have a couple questions before I go ahead and install it
Now I've read somewhere that a check valve and ball will fall out when you drop the original valve body. I vaguely remember reading that the check valve and ball is not needed but I'd like some confirmation on this. What's it for anyway?
Are the springs specific to each accumulator?
And what's the best way to clean the old gasket off? I'm thinking plastic scraper, acetone/shellite and scotchbrite.
Oh and is using permatex okay for the transmission sump? It's just that I have some here already and the red Toyota stuff has to come from the eastern states and nobody local wants to sell it to me wtf!
I've been informed that my shift kit is of a newer design which doesn't require any of the springs or copper pipes, interesting!
Sorry for all the questions haha, just like to know from the gurus before effing with the auto

Austen; Mate yes every spring on the accumulators must go back in in the same place that thay will fall out from EXCEPT for the new spring that has come in the kit. That one replaces the two that are in the 2nd from the rear accumulator. Mate the plastic check valve with the ball on it and its spring throw over your right shoulder Just make sure the spring has come out as well. Getting your pan of the trans is a real head F&&K you are going to bend the lip where the bolts are .Just make sure you get it back to very close to straight or you are going to have a massive leak. Any high temp silicon will do it doesn't have to be 300deg rated stuff your trans will die before you get it that hot. Also mate if you can put a trans cooler in the cooler lines as quick as you can that will help keep the clutch packs together.and seals from a premature death. also when you take the bolts out from the valve body there are 3 different lenghts DO NOT MIX THEM UP. Or you valve body will leak and not work properly. good luck mate it is going to transform the trans and ya going to love it. You can use dextron 3 fluid now as well cheers Lew

Thanks for the replies guys. I was going to start on it this morning but can't get the car high enough on the cheapo jack stands I have so it looks like it needs to goto a mechanic, bugger. I really like working on the car myself knowing no shortcuts have been taken.
Got a big trans cooler in there already and 2 month old ATF still looks brand new
I didn't realize the trans sumps were that hard to get off, I was hoping a stanley knife and a few taps with a rubber mallet would convince it haha
My shift kit came with no accumulator springs or pipes or anything so I'll be careful to note where they came from. Will be sure to throw the check valve over my right shoulder haha cheers mate your posts are a crackup! Definately looking forward to it
Austen don't use the Mechanic word every time you run into a little problem.... I welded some old rims together to make better jack stands than any money can buy.
Just because mine was hard to get off doesn't mean yours will be as hard, it's not impossible just a bit of persuasion and it will drop before you know it.

lol nice stands I'd trust those over my Supercheap stands anyday!
They have a poxy peice on top which looks like \__/ so all you can do is shove em underneath the LCA bush bit. I've since read it's not a good idea to put them there.. ohwell

Finally ended up getting the shift kit fitted. I havent had the chance to take it for a real good drive but the gearchanges are INSTANT, on both up and downshift.
Tonight when there's less traffic around I'll take it up the highway for a few WOT runs. These things are insane.
Oh, I didn't do a full flush either, just topped up with Dex3 but I previously did a full flush with T-IV.
Would it matter if I had both types of ATF in there?
