So a while back, in 2003-2005 the Supra stick V4 became quite widely recognized as a manual controller for automatic gearboxes... but lately I don't think they are really available anymore.

So today I was looking around for alternatives, a computer that override the stock auto ECU or replaces it, so that you have full manual shift control of the auto gearbox through electronic switching. Haven't found that much but things came across this...

http://www.levelten.com/transmission_computor_p/sta-610-5000.htm

Anyone heard of 'Level10' For $800 USD plus shipping costs, I would expect it to be decent hardware...

Any suggestions on where I could find a system? Who is running something like this at the moment?

For the record, I'm not interested in a rear manual conversion, going the shift kit auto route.

completely off topic, but honestly i think you would enjoy a proper manual with a clutch more.

MV Autos sell a shift controller - 6 wires from memory - but is only for use with a full-manualised valve body on a 4-speed electronic autos.

I used one in my R31 when I installed the RB25DET auto box - was either install the controller or install the factory TCU - no thanks! This gearbox had a manualised valvebody and the accumulators were replaced with welsh plugs so it shifted far king hard on full power (think side-stepping a brass button clutch) but was completely driveable on soft throttle. The MVs controller worked perfectly.

The good thing about supra stick is it enables you to switch between auto mode and manual mode via the PWR/ECT buttons and use the cruise control stick as a shifter.

Yeah, if there was something that could switch auto/manual modes and use the CC paddle I would be interested.

looks a lot like this:

http://www.powertraincontrolsolutions.com/transcontrol.php

I have one running the A340 in my Cressida wagon and a mate has one running an a341 trans behind his 6.2ltr turbo v8 (l98 chev + t04z)

works REALLY well!

That looks like the answer, might even be the same unit inside with a different case to the one I found before.

Hmmm

Thanks Allan

that looks awesome. Id love to paddle shift the auto and then be able to switch back to full auto.Allan looks like no harness is available for a340. Is it easy to wire up?

Allan do you reckon it's worth putting into the V8's? seeing it's only a 4 speed box.

How much would it cost for the entire set up, the box and including the any programs or specialist to tune it.

Stock V8 shift points seem fine to me, unless the car is drastically lighter (i.e striped interior),insane NA motor or huge diff ratio change I would not bother... just shim the accumulators and concentrate on other areas of the car that give a better performance per $ value.

The PCS trans controller cost me well over $1500 about 2 years ago now and that was with the A340 harness fitted and set it up myself.

shift points on the v8 are crap? the gearbox ratios are too far apart. its a smooth luxury transmission, very sluggish.
