Gonna be recovering my shifter soon.
Is there any way of driving the car other than having a spare shifter?

you can drive without a shifter, as you can still press the button to move it..

yeh no overdrive. just leave OD on when you take it off, or remove the OD switch from the shifter. they wont need it and it is removable via a flat blade screwdriver.

You can drive the car without a shifter handle, you just press the plastic button downward to use the shifter, be sure to wipe the grease off it.
Overdrive can still work as you will have the two wires present for the switch.
Wires joined = Overdrive Off
Wires Not joined = Overdrive On.
By joining or separating the two wires, you are basically carrying out the function that the overdrive switch does.
